This is the inside of the cattery.  Each run is approximately 8 X 5X 8 with
polycarbonate panels separating the bottoms and 2 X 4 galvanised wire on
the tops.  The wall partitions are made from PVC pipe with EMC conduit
inserted inside the pipe for strength.  They are suspended from the ceiling
with toggle bolts and float on aluminium pins on the bottom allowing easy
cleanup under the partitions. There are three ceiling fans and three ceiling
vents, a little design theory I had .  I ran solid outside soffit,  then the attic
would have to pull heat from the inside of the cattery drawing fresh air from
out side through the windows thus cooling and removing odor from the
inside by the heat escaping through the ridge vent on top of the roof. It
works like a dream!  I have it wired for a window air unit but even on the
dog days of summer it is still comfortable inside. There are 2 X 12 shelves
on all the windows so the cats can look at all the nature we have around
here, there are also three floor drains.  The walls are lined with vinyl 4 X 8
sheets.  The floor is linoleum wrapped up the side of the walls 2".  There
are also nine Can lights, one for each run.  Our cats seem to really enjoy
their new environment.  Also, all fasteners are stainless steel.
This is the start of the Karakash Kats cattery, it's 700 sf at the
moment, with eight indoor runs, and a five foot hallway.  All framing
is 16" oc roof and walls.  The walls are 1/2 T-111, the roof is 1/2 osb
with metal insulated roof over that.  It is anchored with 8" L bolts
every 4' and 4" ram sets in between all stud.  It has 17 double paned
160 mph hurricane  treated windows. It will a total of 1400 sf when
we get the outside concrete slab poured and the insulated roof on.
You can see from the pictures where the  concrete slab will go for
the outside runs. Then we'll section off the runs and run 18 x 14
fiberglass screen and frame work around the outside of the  runs.
It's still a work in progress.
This area is where a working kitchen will be.  There will be running water
and sink, a dishwasher, stackable washer and dryer, and a microwave. We
already have the refrigerator.  We just need a little more plumbing,
cabinets, and counters.  Right now the kitchen area works as a good
storage area. The door on the left is one of the double door systems we
have throughout our home as well. Anyone wanting me to make a custom
door, I just need a few measurements, give me a call 813-643-0542 or
email me.
